Vietnam
Off to Vietnam today! But unfortunately the day started a little earlier than expected, my 8.45 alarm (allowing for a little sleep in) was unfortunately on NZ time, which was 4.45 Singapore time. Whoops!
Back to sleep, briefly, then up and out to breakfast to a local Dim Sum restaurant, Tak Po. Super good and pretty cheap. Around $20 all up for a hearty breakfast and tea/drinks. The a bit of a walk around the area, pick up the bags form the hotel, and out to the airport.
International flight so a 2 hour check-in, but Chang has loads to do, so the time went quickly. The highlight being the butterfly center …
Then a pretty quick flight to Vietnam, around 1 hr 45, with a full lunch and bar service, very impressive. The system then worked well, a driver was waiting for us, well worth the $20 investment, and 30 minutes later we were at the hotel, Saigon Europe Hotel, And very impressive indeed for $55 US per night. Loving the air-conditioning, as its 34 degrees outside!
A quick respite, and a cold beer. 15 000 dong in the hotel mini bar (that’s around 80 cents) and then out for a look around. First stop, a corner bar for more drinks, juices for the kids and beers for us. Interesting 50 000 dong for a local beer, Saigon. Around $2.50, but clearly over priced in a “tourist trap”.
Finally we ended up at a roof top BBQ. The kids were exhausted so a quick and delicious meal, cooked at our table. 400 000 dong ($22ish) for 4 meats and squid, and drinks.
The home to bed. Several very tired kids!
Oh yep, the view from our room … love it to be honest, so much character.
