As a member of the Heritage Commission, I attended the afternoon opening event of the "A Storied Land" exhibit at our local museum. Our mayor, Peter Milobar, brought greetings from the city while Councillor Jules from the Secwepemc offered her welcome, a prayer and drumming with a song. The exhibit displays the artifacts and legends of the Secwepemc people of this area. Dennis Oomen, museum curator, walked us through the exhibit giving us snippets of native legends and describing the significant locations within the boundaries of the Secwepemc nation.
