My Left Eye Is Right

Hanging with The Family Tree

Always a special time.

Mom and I went to the other twins' home today for our New Years meal.

Black Eyed Peas with some veggies, chicken and rice, cornbread and other goodies.

The 2 ladies talked about old times. I earned a lesson in how to prepare the peas and how not to do corn bread.

Aunt L always one to enjoy the music of some of the best soul singers to come along had her stereo, set to her favorite station.

Frankie Beverly came on and because we forget as we grow older, she could not recall his name.

I new the name and told her the initials and BANG the dancing and singing.

They had a great day and enjoyed starting their 2010 off in style together.
Auntie told of her favorite drink, Scotch, and Moms spoke of hers, Brandy.
When I mentioned that my favorite was plan old Any Drink! we all had a good laugh.

After the meal I had a walk and took some blips of the trees in the neighborhood.
Spent some time with Brando her dog. Shared ownership with a niece that now lives in Spain. But Auntie loves him so very much we all know he truly belongs to her;-)

They enjoy each other so very much and it is special times when they're together sitting and remembering about how they were brought up and being some of the first children to be integrated.

Their integrations did not go smoothly and lives were threatened but Grandma and the girls found a way around the threats. But still to this day both sisters feel cheated as they had to break the law per the county not keeping their part of history and integrating the children rightly.
The twins were bused to a black school outside their district.

Another part of history in this family of ours.
I'm blessed to be part of The Family Trees that make up my history:-)

Happy New Year Blipfoto Family.
