Purple iris

A sunny warm day today. I decided to take a close up of the first purple iris flower that has just come out. Avoiding the bees that seem to have a nest in our compost container. The patterns on the petals are so intricate and striking, you can just see a stamen nestling amongst the inner most petals. It always surprises me how different and beautiful things look close up.

Off to Devon for a few days tomorrow so some back blipping will occur.
