Oh my.
So yesterday Vanessa, the adorably fat woman I was building, exploded in the kiln.
Now for all you non-clay experts. Clay gets baked in a big, insanely hot oven for a good 12 hours. Whilst this is happening all the air is trying to escape, and if there isn't a convenient little hole where it can pop out of, the whole damn thing explodes. So Vanessa took a turn for the worst when part of her bum fell off. Fortunately, I managed to salvage her back up with super glue, plaster and sand paper. But unfortunately, I can't glaze her because if she goes back in the kiln she probably would explode more, and I don't think I could cope with that.
So today I sprayed her white. And yeah, I'm actually really pleased. I'm starting to become quite attached to Vanessa. She's so round.
When the paint is dry and she's all done I will show you all.
Happy Blipping.
