CRESTED COOT OR RED KNOBBED COOT (Fulica cristata)

After a good breakfast we caught a bus and made our way to The Natural Park de s' Albufera. We saw lots of interesting birds.
We had our lunch in the company of a Red Knobbed Coot. This is quite a rare bird and it is being monitored very closely. This one has been collared and numbered. It has several damaged toes but seems to manage very well, it has a mate and is affectionately referred to as The Vicar!
