Been a long time since we've had a walk in the hills, so an easy track from Linn O Dee seemed like a good start. On the drive there we saw a heron carrying a frog in his mouth and lots of deer. On the walk itself we saw, what was probably, a golden eagle (really big raptor flying very high up) and some rather startled black grouse that had set up home beside the path.
Back to Braemar just in time to get a buttery (rowie, Aberdeen roll) from the farmhouse bakery in Rosemount in Aberdeen and a cup of tea. (Bought a lot of baked goods in that shop when we were students). Set us up for the drive home!
This picture was taken on the way out to the base of Ben MacDui.
