1940 Rotterdam Blitz

Yesterday it was exactly 74 years ago that the Germans bombed the heart of Rotterdam during a seize fire!

They did this to force the Dutch to capitulate at the beginning of WW2 - as did the US in Hiroshima - to end the second world war.

On may 15th 1940 the Dutch surrendered and I created this photo on photo then and now images of the Laurens Church to remember that event which forever changed the character of Rotterdam.
