Japanese night life

Standing bars are a popular aspect of Japanese social life. Usually frequented by salary men, the izakaya serves cheap drinks and small dishes of food - like the Japanese version of tapas. Today's bar of choice was a local sake bar which was exceptional mainly for the lack of loud music, replaced instead with Abe on every TV channel. Very Japanese!

There is no private house in which people can enjoy themselves so well as at a capital tavern... No, Sir; there is nothing which has yet been contrived by man by which so much happiness is produced as by a good tavern or inn.
