Here's a story...

Katy, over the past couple of days, has been designing a dress for Sal. She's also been doing her SATS exams. The clothes designer thing, we think, has come about as a reaction to the stress of the exams...it's something she loves doing and can immerse herself in during the down time.

The exams, by the way, seem to be going really well.

Anyway, the dress....she started by drawing the design on paper, cutting the templates, pinning to and then cutting the material. It's all been a very impressive project..

Today, Nana B brought her sewing machine over to show Katy how to sew. This Singer is circa 1950...almost as old as my mum and has been in our family for as long as I can remember. In my mum's words...'it could tell the story of my life!' It has helped make baby clothes for me, my brothers, my children and now Katy is using it to make a dress for Sal. What a fantastic machine. It makes me really happy to see Katy, of her own accord, wanting to learn how to use it.
