New years eve with Roy Ayers at the Jazz Cafe, Lon
What a brilliant year 2009 was for us. It is really good to be prompted to think about it.
G and I have come full circle. We spent new years eve 2008/9 in the Jazz Cafe seeing Roy Ayers as well! This time we booked a table upstairs on the balcony with a three course meal. Much more civilised. It was so crowded downstairs I was glad not to be stuck in that.
The warm up band were fantastic, led by Lex Cameron who we saw at the Jazz Cafe Michael Jackson tribute.
This is a picture of Roy Ayers. One of the things I love most about Roy Ayers is that he is one of the coolest men on the planet and plays the vibraphone (an electric xylophone). Love that.
You may not have heard of him but you have heard his songs. He did 'Everybody loves the sunshine', 'Running Away', 'Love will bring us back together' - loads of great feel-good songs.
Happy new year.
Music has to breathe and sweat. You have to play it live. James Brown
