First footing

The day is coming to an end and we have been blessed with many friends 'first footing' us

The first-foot is the person who first crosses the threshold of your hpme after the clock strikes midnight. and usually brings several gifts, including perhaps a coin, bread, salt, coal, or a drink (usually whisky), which respectively represent financial prosperity, food, flavour, warmth, and good cheer.
