Blast from the past.

I haven't mentioned the building site that was once our work base for a while. The second batch of diggers were not as co operative as the first ones and I have no interest in the house they are building. But this month work started on a section which will be the new Doctors Surgery, and ground works there have uncovered a Rolls Royce Merlin engine from a crashed Halifax bomber from the often featured here Airfield.
Above is the engine block one bank of six cylinders at the top and the second bank at floor level. Further parts like the propeller stub and gear box ( still with some gear oil in it! ) and a control yoke ( not the engine throttles ) can be viewed in my blipfolio under dug up! Trust all is well one and all ;¬)
