It walked to me looking for dung or a cadaver!

It found neither - I think it is called a Staphylin odorant - Ocypus olens - 2.3 cm. and it uses its tail end as a 7th leg. The underneath is a rather precious pink. Max was in a better temper today but the wind still blows a hoolie and it is difficult to find shelter from its contrariness.
