Lots of bubble wrap does not offset the MIF. You can list out what's valuable and how you'd like it protected, and how the nice wooden floors in your soon-to-be marketed house should be protected from scratches. All such preparation falls before the juggernaut that is the MIF.

The MIF can, and will pack a precious pottery vase at the bottom of a box of kitchen oddments.

The MIF will overrule such paltry devices as floor protection felt and leave two-metre-long gouges in a polished rimu floor. Across the middle of the living room.

I guess if you've the intellect of a rocket scientist, you're unlikely to be filling your spare time shifting houses to make a spare buck. But still, why do they go to the other extreme that is the MIF?
