In memoriam

I spent the sunny morning with my love and we were joined for a dog walk by Emmy. I did a little job I have been meaning to get around to for a while and then trundled home.

The blip today is the start of something I have been wanting to make a start on for a long time. It is a memorial stone for the partner of a wonderful friend of mine. He died a couple of years back, many many years too early. I was very touched and hugely honoured when asked if I would do something in his memory and spent a long time wandering the beaches of my island trying to find the right stone. Once I had the stone, the prospect of picking up the chisels and making the first marks has daunted me for too long. Today I was just in the right mood to pick up chisels which have lain dusty and dormant too long. For someone who uses tools regularly, it is good to feel these ones in my hands again. I hope I do the piece justice...
