Valerian
Valerianacaea. I think this is a garden escape but it is common locally - on the mainland it grows happily along the A55 express way. Here it it along the top of a wall outside the chapel at the start of the lane - distant views to Snowdonia.
There are references to using extract of valerian as a herbal remedy on the Boots website - good for treating stress, anxiety and sleep disorders. Apparently in medieval Sweden a sprig of valerian was sometimes tucked into a bridegroom's pocket to ward off the envy of elves...
A good day for looking up, not down, as the council strimmers have been back down the lane. :(
