mayor making

last night the youth gospel choir sang to the official guests and dignitaries at the mayor making ceremony in shrewsbury. i know, it's great name.

the ceremony itself was in equal parts weird and hilarious, with more silverware than i've seen at wimbledon and more gold jewellery than Mr T. beth and i played 'how many freemasons are in the room right now?' during the proceedings.

the new mayor does seem rather wonderful though and has a great passion for both the arts and for young people. it seemed like she mingled with the choir afterwards not because she had to, but because she wanted to.
