This is Stone Street Square in Dudley. Until a few years ago it was a cobbled car park, in the town centre, but then the council decided to turn it into a newly paved square, and do away with the car park. I doubt if events are held on the square as much as once a year, so a central car park was lost (the only one), and the square gets no use at all - what a waste of money. Before they put the new paving in place an extensive archaeological study was done of some of the remains of old buildings which were under it.
