Driving to "the cabin" today.... My husband has had this cabin in his family for over 30 years now. It is a cabin on a lake in the woods, one of 6 cabins that were once used to house people who worked for the forest service. We are always excited to go to the cabin, but my husband is especially excited this time. This is the beginning of tradition for "his" family. He remembers going to the cabin when he was younger with his parents, siblings, and cousins (at this time of year, the road is closed and we snowmobile in 5 miles to get to the cabin). Now he is creating the same memories with his children, siblings, and nieces and nephews. It is something we look forward to every time we go.
I captured this shot from the truck window...there was a large fire a few years ago that destroyed hundreds of acres of forest and encroached on quite a few rural homes. Such a beautiful sight from such a horrible disaster.
