Happy Mother's Day: A wash for the car

I hope that all of the mothers had a wonderful Mother's Day!

Mother's Day for me is a difficult day. One of my daughters lives halfway around the world, and the other daughter and my four grandchildren might as well. So, for me it was a "singin' in the rain" type of day (see my Thursday blip). I was very thankful for the thoughtfulness of J, and the emails from children. And it was wonderful to also talk with A in China, as well as my mother.

J and I were planning to escape. We were planning to take a drive over to one of California's many wine regions - El Dorado and Amador counties - famous for their world class reds. But, the best laid plans . . . It had snowed on Saturday, and the pass that we would have to drive over had only be open for an hour. So, rather than fight the snow and ice on the road, we stayed in Reno, ran errands, had a wonderful breakfast, got the car washed and rested. And I made a fantastic roast rack of lamb with whiskey sauce. Quiet day . . . and just a touch sad, but grateful for what I do have.

Have a great week!
