The Desecration of Killburn Woods.

Contractors have moved into Killburn Woods for "hardwood thinning to improve final crop trees" according to notices put up at the time. These woods constitute a beautiful ancient woodland and provide a valuable natural habitat; as such they should not be used for commercial gain. There has been a lot of ill feeling over this.

The machinery used has caused serious collateral damage in the form of soil compaction as well as uprooting much of the vegetation.

It will take a long time for the flora, in particular the masses of British bluebells, to recover to its former glory.
