A Sad Day Indeed
I do wonder at the safety aspects of some of the vehicles on the roads here.....despite what appears to be such rigid vehicle inspections. This is a wheel of one of our school buses which I took as I was leaving today.
My thoughts come in the wake of yet another horrendous bus crash yesterday on one of our many highways. Carrying labourers from their shift...it overturned when the driver apparently fell asleep at the wheel and hit a stationary lorry. 13 died instantly. The injured are still in hospital.......most were due to return to their families in Bangladesh on holiday after 2 years of working here in the Emirates. Families have just been devastated.
When most drivers are doing 12 hour shifts, 7 days a week, (taxis included) its probably easy to understand how incidents like this can happen. Legislation is so needed in this region to ensure it never happens again.
Brought to mind my recent blip of a workers bus. I trust they were all safe.
Blip well...and stay safe.
