Life through the lens...

Say "cheese"

Spent a lovely day with my brother-in-law G and his wife J.
Lunch at "The Game Cock Inn" Austwick, was superb as usual, and at £8,95 exceptional value.
This time to nibble with your drinks, Eric had made some mini Yorkshire puddings stuffed with roast beef, which were piled up on plates on the bar.
Couldn't resist one or two!

On the way back we called at the Courtyard Dairy, near Settle.
Voted Cheesemonger of the Year 2013.
I hope this photo shows you why!
This is the best cheese shop I have ever been to in the U.K.
A delicious smell!
We were given 5 cheeses to taste too, by owner Andy Swinscoe. ( you may have seen him on Countryfile)
He certainly knows his cheese
Before setting up The Courtyard Dairy, he was awarded a Queen Elizabeth Scholarship for "Cheese Maturing", and after a French apprenticeship in "affinage" ( cheese aging) worked for some of the top cheesemongers in the UK and France.

We just bought some Lancashire ( yes I know what you are saying!)
Will be back again to buy some of the others, including the Richard 111 Wensleydale seen in the photo. see here

Hope you have all had a good weekend.
