Le Grand Depart.....Charity run
This July, Yorkshire will be hosting "Le Grand Depart"...the opening two stages of the Tour de France, so parts of the County have been taken over by people in lycra, funny shoes and a near surgical attachment to lightweight road bikes.
So a number of my colleagues put together a series of Charity runs for Cancer Research and yesterday was the first section from Leeds to Harrogate, the long way round! 190.5km (120miles) along the following route:

I offered to help out as one of the motorcycle support riders and to take a few photos. As it turned out the organising committee did a great job organising everything apart form the weather...which they seem to have forgotten about!...and how! So 18 of my workmates donned the lycra and rode through torrential rain, driving winds and fog.......welcome to the wonderful British weather! Even on a motorbike it was miserable!
This shot was from the top of Buttertubs Pass....one of the most challenging hills on the course!...and the weather had cleared up a bit to being just really miserable.
All that said, a great day, raised a load of funds for Cancer Research and well done to everyone for completing the course! Hope you all dried out...eventually!
