....get your boots, you're playing.....

If only.............

The Son and Heir and the Daughter took me to Old Trafford today for the Museum and Stadium tour. It was my birthday present back in February.......but today was the first weekend the three of us could get together......and also the last chance to see the Premier League trophy in its rightful home, until it goes on loan to some other team this.........but it will be back next year.

I was born 10 days after the Munich disaster.......and the second match I remember watching was the 1968 European Cup Final v Benfica....(the first was the 1966 World Cup Final)...........so I guess that's why I'm a United fan.

We arrived just after 2.00 and did the outside of the stadium for some photographs......the statues of Sir Matt Busby and Sir Alex Ferguson......me standing by the statue of the "Holy Trinity".....Best, Law and Charlton.......some great posters of George Best....and Nobby Stiles..........then into the museum......Bobby Charlton's World Cup medal...........Nobby's World cup medal.....the miniature trophies for 13 Premier League titles, 7 Football League Division 1 titles, 11 FA cups, 3 European/Champions League trophies, the European Cup winners cup, the EUFA Super cup, 4 League cups, 20 Charity/Community shields, the Intercontinental Cup and the Club world Champions trophies, the Munich room, the display of the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League trophy from 1999, the players shirts, pendants etc etc.........and then the stadium tour.......the posh seats......the disabled supporters area and club room......the Munich memorial and clock.........the press room......the director's lounge and bar.......the directors seating area........the players entrance.......the officials changing rooms.........the players lounge.....the dressing room.....the interview area.....the tunnel.....down to the pitch to a soundtrack of crowd noise and entry music........the dug outs.......the old tunnel and finally into the Megastore.......and a personalised certificate!

We emerged around 4.45...........the only downside is that by the end of over 2 and a half hours on my feet...up and down stairs......walking up and down slopes....my dodgy knee gave way!.....and I had to be helped back to the car park.

Home......a kip....a shower...out to Therese's for some supper and drinks......back home just after midnight...knee throbbing.....and I have to be uo by 6.00 to go fishing tomorrow!

Das vidanya moy padruga.
