Lovely Lacy Layers

of a Crocosmia bulb. Best in view larger version.

Did more weeding today, plus cut the Crocosmia stalks flush with their bulb bed.
I pulled one too hard and the stalk came off in my hand, leaving the bulb still in the ground. (Beautiful AND strong!)
The bulbs have such pretty layers! They remind me of multiple lace petticoats.
This was carefully pulled apart layers, starting at the bulb end; spaced along the dry stalk fronds.
