Were you there?

Moss Lane at about 5.30pm. this afternoon. Two minutes earlier, Altrincham had taken a 2-1 lead, thus prompting scenes of boundless jubilation. What followed at the end of the match was a mass pitch invasion. Players were hoisted on shoulders and paraded around the ground, such was the excitement at having gained promotion.

An attendance of almost 4700, compared to a gate of 750 for a normal game, meant the place was packed and the atmosphere electric. Credit to, to the opposition from Guisely. They were more than worthy and could just as easily have found themselves taking the spoils, such was the closeness of the two sides in terms of ability.

There's no controlling the subject matter for this type of blip, but just as with last week's operatic hand gesture, so, once more, a musical link can be made as a man can be seen dancing a jig in the centre of the pitch, while random acts of joy take place around him!
