New Old Book

Among the books we bought at the Christian Aid annual booksale is an old cookery book, compiled by, and for, housewives in the West Riding of Yorkshire.

The Introduction ends 'I commend this Book of recipes, begging them to remember that every 1/6 spent upon a copy will go to help in supplying much-needed garments to our men at the front'.

However, this is an ex-library copy, so I decided to share the special message regarding the return of books, printed in red. Do look in large for full effect; and note the date at the bottom of the label: 14/1/14....1914, of course.
