Nearly there

This photo was taken from the clouds.

The water ahead is Brotherswater and the road is The Kirkstone Pass.

Its a lovely evening but its been a very wet day and a truly awful drive through the Yorkshire Dales to the Lake District for a week by Ullswater. When you can see Brotherswater you are nearly there.

Arrived at 3pm and the weather soon improved. Provisions purchased from the wonderful Patterdale Post Office and Village Store included freshly baked bread and millionaire's shortbread ( as purchased by Julia Bradbury during her BBC programme on Alfred Wainwright's Coast to Coast walk).

An early evening walk up Grisedale revealed some lovely birds including a pair of Yellowhammers and a male Pied Flycatcher doing his flycatching thing just as described by David Attenborough on BBC radio 4's Tweet of the day a couple of days ago.

The red light in the foreground was the #508 Stagecoach bus from Windermere to Penrith
