First of all, let me apologise for the very poor quality of this blip, read on for my excuse ...

I headed out to The Tyne Valley this morning to visit a very special friend whom I first met 24 years ago when I was appointed my first "real" job after leaving college. It was a very sad day when, 22 years later, he retired from medicine. Needless to say, we have kept in touch and I hope we will continue to do so for many years to come.

This photo is one of only 12 I took today, and seemed rather apt.
