Two cousin ice cream

This is a freshly made batch of home made ice cream.

It is studded throughout with chopped glacé cherries, mixed peel and chopped walnuts in the style of a cassata.

The recipe combines an original cassata ice cream provided by my lovely cousin Hazel, with Nigella Lawson's one-step no-churn ice cream....both with modifications to produce the final result.

Why two cousins?

Well, although she does not know it, Nigella is my second cousin three times removed.

I put all this together having watched " Who do you think you are" several years ago.
