Bond, James Bond

I like reading, and I'm currently working my way through a box set of the James Bond novels written by Ian Fleming. They are very good and benefit from being set in the period they were written, the late 1950s and early 1960s.

They are very unlike the later Bond films, in that there are very few gadgets, and Bond has to rely on his on instinct and wits to survive and complete the mission. There are still the occasional encounters with a beautiful/mysterious lady, and the Vodka Martini's shaken not stirred, but Bond in the novels is quite a cold and ruthless agent. Having said that, I still probably have Sean Connery (Dr No period) in my minds eye when I'm reading the novels.

I'm currently reading Diamonds are Forever. Death is forever. But so are diamonds....

If you're mixed up with Mr Bond, you have to be 'always so careful'
