What a difference a day (or two) makes.

I had the resus bleep at work tonight and helped to look some very poorly people. An elderly patient was brought in by Ambulance, critically ill. Everyone did everything they could for her but sadly we were unable to resuscitate her, she was just too unwell. I watched her take her last breath and held her hand as she passed away. Being a doctor teaches me many things but there is one thing in particular that situations like this show me. It's something we have to understand before we even pick up a set of notes or see a patient. Infact, before we even apply to medical school.

Life is just so precious.
