Lib Day

I feel incredibly lucky to live on the island of Guernsey & to have been brought up here. We are also very fortunate that our island was freed from German Occupation on this day 69 years ago.

On 9th May, every year, we have a Public Holiday, remember & celebrate our freedom & the people who fought for our country & freedom.

It was lovely spending some time this morning to enjoy the celebrations before taking the bus up to St Pierre Du Bois for a friend's family's mini Olympics party.

About 40 of us got into two teams to compete against each other. The Olympics turned out to be quite proper rather than mini. My event was javelin, my fav event, & despite not having touched a javelin in 20 years, I hadn't lost my technique.

Other events included discus, hurdles, archery, Bungay on an inflatable, 3-legged, sack race, & hammering nails into a log!!!

This blip was taken from the bottom of their garden/field when the cruise liner was departing Gsy waters.

Awesome house and location!!! We left victorious and caught the bus back into town. Caught the spectacular fireworks and a bit of Crown & Anchor:-)

Happy Liberation Day!
