Eye of the Bee

A beautful flat calm day in Orkney, my cold is very slowly getting better. Never sat down once all day with work, kids needing help getting organised (Duke of Edinburgh camp out and various sports tournaments going on this weekend). I did take some time to see what's going on in the garden. Saw various butterflies, hoverflies and this Common Carder Bee taking advantage of the first new hebe flowers. I got interested in bees when last summer I realised my garden was playing host to some very rare Great Yellow Bumblebees, so the Orkney bee lord has told me to keep a lookout for them again this year. None yet, but I'm sure they'll arrive..
