Moon, Bird, Smoke, Fog

Back in the south docks in Dublin to take up my project where I left off. I had driven out on the spur of the moment, hoping to get some interesting shots of the heavy fog which had rolled over the city that morning. When I arrived I was disappointed to find that the fog had completely dissipated, though it was still an interesting place to be, as always; all but deserted so soon after Christmas. Then, as I was photographing the bits of dumped scrap metal near the edge of the sea wall, I turned round to find that the fog had crept (or rather pounced) right behind me, encroaching all over the place, visibility rapidly closing down to about 50/100 yards, just like the John Carpenter movie. Actually I love fog, the noise of a foghorn does something to me, perhaps similar to the wild mournefulness of freight train whistles. It did put me slightly on edge though, wondering how safe it was to drive back through that moving grey-blue barricade.
