Loch Earn
Glorious day today.
A new bridge had been built over the Tarken Burn on the footpath between St Fillan's and Lochearnhead and that now opens up the completed route along the old disused railway. As you can see there are only glimpses of the Loch.
The walk is about 7 miles or so - a nice stroll between two pretty villages. I'm glad the old railway has a new purpose but really, it must have been fantastic when it was still running. What a tragic loss all those rural lines were. The Perth buses do go as far as St Fillan's but only a few times a day. From May to October there's a Citylink running along the A85 to Oban which does provide a public transport link in summer but only twice a day. Not really a replacement for the trains though.
The new bridge was officially opened by Cameron McNeish so I got to meet the great man for the first time ever :-). This job really has its moments!
