May Sisters’ Challenge; Metallic

Well … here are two words I did not expect to see together; nostalgia and electrics. If ever proof were needed that I’m getting old, it’s this.

I’m drawn to the metallic finish on this kitchen appliance. And the colour. It looks …. old. In a nostalgic kind of way. Had I been born on the other side of the Atlantic it might have spoken to me of Diners and Jukeboxes. Or am I thinking of a youth I never actually had, but one I only witnessed in films? Then again, it might simply be someone trying to capitalise on Baby Boomers and the grey pound (dollar).

Everyone is getting in on the act. Old is the new new. I squirt the image through Nik Color Efx and find - joy of joys - film effect ‘faded’. It makes me want to hug the appliance. There is even film effect ‘nostalgic’. But I decide that’s a step too far.

If you are interested it’s pop-corn maker. Works by a combination of electricity and hot-air. Tastes pretty good too - nothing metallic about the taste.
