Fetch!
Was meeting a friend for lunch on Wednesday and, as we drove to the (garden) nursery & cafe, just caught a glimpse of what looked like a sculpture out of the corner of my eye. It was on a small plot of land near the entrance to a fairly new housing development. Thought it was rather unusual and decided I'd go back later to investigate.
It was, as you can see, unusual: a dog, maybe a pointer, designed in the Andy Scott (of Arria and The Kelpies fame) style of sculpture. Took a few pictures and decided I'd find out more about it before posting it as my daily blip.
There isn't a lot about it online but, according to an article in the Cumbernauld News dating from September 2012 - oh, the power of your favourite search engine - it turns out that it is indeed by Andy Scott and is called 'Cobus' after his own dog. Apparently it was commissioned by the house-builders and isn't particularly popular with the locals who bought the houses and who claimed they weren't consulted before the sculpture appeared. Maybe now that Andy Scott has become a little more famous in the intervening eighteen months they might be quite proud of their local connection to the sculptor.
An unexpected find. And, yes, a rather unusual one.
