An exciting day - for a puppy!
This morning I awoke, at 6am, to howling. Like a wolf… Where was that coming from??
Yes, wee Archie, with a squeaky wee cry, has discovered that he can howl rather loudly… JR said that she’d heard him rattling around a bit before this, so I really need to get there before he realises the howling can achieve immediate results. He didn't need out - he'd used his puppy pad again. And he has his pig's ear in his crate to chew on. (Sorry about mentioning that - the breeder gave us it, and he loves it.)
He’s had an exciting day. Two visitors, one of them was nice and let him play with lovely big chewy laces, and the other ignored him and knocked him spinning.
Uncle A came to meet Archie, and both were quite taken with each other - Archie was allowed to chew on his laces. And his walking stick.
In the afternoon Brodie came over for a visit. This was a bit scary for the wee fella. Brodie is huge now (1 year old) - Archie is about the size of one of his EARS! Brodie stormed in, cleaned up Archie’s wee dish of kibble, drank his water, inspected his toys, wee-ed on his lawn and totally ignored Archie.
Archie kept well away for ages, eyeing up this terrifying creature. But eventually, he started to run around following Brodie (who, after a brief sniff, ignored him). But at one energetic running episode Brodie knocked Archie over and he (A) got a wee fright and didn’t go near him again until Brodie was lying down right at the end of the visit. Still, we might visit Brodie tomorrow and maybe they’ll get to know each other. I can see how important all this socialising bit is for a wee pup.
Archie also had a tour of the whole house, on his lead. He also explored the front garden and heard cars and two men shouting (talking) and seagulls screeching. His wee head was swivelling around in all directions! He was so interested in everything, he didn’t notice this annoying thing attached to his (annoying) collar. He’s zonked out now.
The lost parcel eventually arrived containing the dog pen, which I will have a look at tomorrow and set up a play pen outside.
I chose this photo, as it shows how big Brodie must appear to the wee fella.
