Geopark Event

Down at Our Dynamic Earth with U3A Geology to take the tour but mainly to support an event by Scottish Geoparks. Here are some members of our group in front of the stalls, discussing the programme.

There are three geoparks in Scotland: Lochaber, Shetland and North West Highlands, which promote the unique geological features of their region and in so doing help to protect them from unsympathetic activity and to encourage an appreciation of the landscape.

Each geopark brought informative displays, demonstrations and literature about the formation of their area, with samples of the rock types found there; a great deal of planning and hard work for the single day's exhibition here but so well presented.
