my dad trained as a horticulturalist (gardener to you and me) when he left school. he spent most of his early life maintaining the parks of manchester (he has special certificates in crown green maintenance!) until good ole maggie privatised things and contracted out most of the work.
For several other related reasons he ended his working life a postie but both he and my mum remain keen gardeners and manage to create spectacular year round amaziness wherever they live. this includes an abundance of veggies and even though their little bungalow patch is now smaller they produce lovely salad and veg. today they not only brought an array of produce but spent the afternoon tidying my little patch and working their magic on my 10ft x 2ft flower bed on the end of my yard!
