En vacances...

...à Paris!

Oui, c'est vrai! Spokes and I have been anticipating this trip to Paris for months and we're finally here!

We caught the Eurostar this afternoon and began our trip with the excitement of seeing Malian singing sensation Rokia Traoré and her band arriving at St Pancras just as we checked in.

The weather was good when we reached the Gare du Nord so we opted to walk to where we're staying in Montmartre, allowing us to soak up the sights and sounds of the city at close quarters. We were met by our temporary landlords, Julien and Pierre, and shown around our beautiful little seventh floor apartment with its south facing balcony with views across the rooftops to the Sacré Coeur in one direction and La Défense in the other. They hung around for a while for a chat and gave us lots of recommendations about the best local boulangeries etc. Always important!

After they'd gone we headed out to explore our local neighbourhood and get some food supplies. It looks like a great area and we can't wait to see more over the next few days. We both needed a holiday badly and where better than Paris in the Springtime?

As you can see, Spokes is delighted with it all. And so am I!
