And so it begins...

Eurovision is one of my favourite things and so the contest season begins. Tonight it is the semi-finals. Sadly I missed the first half as I was too busy with other things but I thought that this bloke spinning around on a hamster wheel contraption says it all.

So far I have to say that I am distinctly underwhelmed but I suspect quite a few acts won't get through from tonight. The Moldovian dancers were particularly frightening to watch, one chap looked like he's stepped out of a horror film. The image of his contorted face staring at the camera as he grabbed out towards the viewer, pretending to be all menacing, is burned onto my retina forever. The Belgian opera singer I did not get at all or my brain was just not appreciative of his abilities. Now I am watching the Netherlands entry which is a little bit country and altogether better . . . as for the UK, if we win this year I shall blip myself eating a hat!!
