Used, abused and abandoned?
Well no is the answer. Although this old dumper truck looks just to be "dumped" it is use on a fairly regular basis. It belongs to a friend of mine who has a reasonably large house together with a huge barn which he is currently converting. It is a project which has been running for a few years now and no doubt it will be a few more before it is finished.
This old dumper appeals to me as it looks "cream crackered" but it starts, runs and still does everything it should although perhaps with a little more smoke than before.
I love old machinery which is still in operation and doing the job for which it was originally designed rather then being replaced with a modern equivalent which possibly won't be as good or robust. Evidenced by my blip of yesterday and the history behind my old Triang 'toy' which is still going after almost 60 years.
Why oh why do we seem to have this need for new stuff?
