Moretonhampstead

This is one of the gateway towns to Dartmoor and its little main street is often crowded with traffic coming to and from the moor and its the nearest town to our little Dartmoor base. It has all the shops you need, a small supermarket, a butchers, a hardware shop, newsagents, an hotel and a couple of pubs plus a bus station giving transports to the surrounding area.

The flags on various houses and business are made by ladies in the village and they normally go up for our food festival. Unfortunately it had to be cancelled this year because of bad weather but they have gone up anyhow. Many of them depict the trade of a premises or one that had been there in years gone by. On the left of the road is one of a list of wonderful flower baskets that line the road here.

It is a place we love coming to and a few years ago I think we would have been happy to settle here. Best viewed in large I think.
