Cock of the north

We spent the day having a whistle stop guided tour of north west Lewis with our friends and their kids. We visited the Callanish standing stones - nearly 50 monolith stones set out in a colossal Celtic cross, we then headed off the stunning Dail beag beach which in today's weather was bracing to say the least. Next stop the Broch - a fortified tower with walls reaching 30ft , an amazing construction for its time. We then had another eye watering beach walk at Dail Mor . Our final stop was the Arnol black house, a preserved original black house. The smell of the peat burning inside was a bit much for me, I'm sure it was very cosy for its time.
Thanks to the Macleods for being tour guides and feeding us this evening.
( the blip was taken at the rear of the black house )
