Holdfast

No, I don't mean that you should hold fast! It's the name of this plant, it's a Holdfast.

Wikipedia says A holdfast is a root-like structure that anchors aquatic sessile organisms, such as seaweed, other sessile algae, stalked crinoids, benthic cnidarians, and sponges, to the substrate. In this case it would have been the holdfast for kelp, which is very prolific around the coast of New Zealand. I loved all the textures on its structure and the light on the sand.

Sparkles in the sand . . . . .

Thanks so much everyone for the wonderful feedback for yesterday's Dawn-Light at Cave Rock. So many wonderful comments, stars and hearts - amazing! It stayed in the top row of Spotlight for a long time. I've not been keeping up with commenting very well lately - my apologies for that.
