Snowy Egret

Today was the first day of sailing for us this year, and it was an absolutely beautiful day! Sunny and warm, with nice winds in the afternoon. My husband just put the boat in it's slip in the harbor on Friday. It was 100+ degrees at home that day (a little cooler on the coast a mere 12 miles away), which made it a hot and tiring job. Though I haven't sailed in a while, it comes back to you pretty quickly. Grateful for no mishaps on our first day out.

We've met a few other slip renters already, and it seems like a great location. John and Tammy are in the slip behind us, Glenn and Marina (an appropriate name) are across the dock. Other people stopped by to greet us as well.

This will be a great place for photos! Already took some of the sea lions that hang out at the harbor buoy, the Oceanside harbor sign, the dinghies and play boats, etc. This Snowy Egret is considered a wading bird, I suppose because of its long legs. He was not shy, and I'm sure I'll get many more photo opportunities over the summer.
